Dripping Springs Education
The Dripping Springs Independent School District curriculum is designed to promote student excellence and is structured to guarantee student success. Currently, the District operates five campuses along with a central administrative office, a special education cooperative, and separate transportation and support service facilities.
The District maintains an average teacher/pupil ratio of 15.9 for all grades. Outstanding academic and extracurricular activities are available to all students. Students routinely participate and excel in U.I.L.competition. The Texas Education Agency has rated the District Recognized in the Accountability Rating System for the 2009-2010 school year. The schools are the center of the community, and parents and other community members actively support the schools through PTO/PTA and volunteer programs. Parents and the public are kept well-informed of educational activities through two local newspapers, a variety of parent organizations and school board activities.
The Katherine Anne Porter School offers a high school curriculum designed to foster an appreciation for learning, nurture individual interests, and enhance community responsibilities. In small classes, using an integrated and practical approach, students are encouraged to become lifelong learners while earning an accredited high school diploma. The free charter school is founded on the belief held by the renowned Texas writer, Katherine Anne Porter, that "knowledge is a great art and great thought is a good in itself, not to be missed for anything."
Austin Community College, Concordia Lutheran College, St. Edward’s University, Texas State University and the University of Texas at Austin. There are also numerous career colleges and technical schools located in the central Texas area.
