Record Month of May for Home Sales in Austin

May 2013 marked the most volume of homes sold in the greater Austin area, according to the Austin Board of Realtors. The real estate market has been strong in the area for some time, and continues on an upward rise.
2,991 single family homes sold in this May, which is a 29% increase from the year before. During May, homes sold in an average of 44 days, which is 19 days quicker than in May 2012. Home prices are also up 8 percent from the same month last year, with the medium Austin-area home price of $231,500 this May.
