Parts of Austin's East Riverside Drive to Close Starting Saturday
Road construction began on East Riverside Drive Saturday and has reduced the passage to two westbound lanes from the west section of Lakeshore Boulevard leading to Shore District Drive.
The construction work is part of the East Riverside Corridor Improvements project, the fourth phase of which plans to create a pedestrian and bicycle lane. The installation of rain gardens is also part of the project to ensure the water quality in the area.
While expected to cause a slowdown in passing vehicles, authorities have committed that the project will not take more than five weeks to complete. The public is requested to bear with the temporary inconvenience and make use of an alternate route until the Lakeshore Boulevard and East Riverside roads have been paved and reopened to the public.
