Austin Third on List of Cities Stealing Jobs from Wall Street

Wall Street is moving to AustinDuring the economic recovery since the Great Recession, large financial institutions have been shifting large percentages of their employment pool away from the traditional financial centers. An analysis by New Geography of recent and longer-term employment trends have identified the large cities - designated by over 450,000 jobs - that are gaining jobs in the financial sector. Austin made the number 3 spot on the list, beating out previous financial employment goliaths such as San Francisco, New York and Los Angeles.

Austin will be One of the Fastest Growing Metros Through 2020

USCM report on U.S. Metro EconomiesIn an analysis of large U.S. metro areas, Austin was named aside two other metro areas as being the three fastest growing metros through 2020. Conducted by the U.S. Conference of Mayors, the analysis findings were presented at the annual USCM meeting. Austin advisory group endorses Project Connect's rail plan; Council votes next

With over 100 people moving to the Austin area a day, transportation is a big concern for local leaders.  According to Austin Business Journal, Austin’s Central Corridor Advisory Group has endorsed Project Connect’s Rail Plan.  Next is for the City Council to approve it and then out the citizens to vote on the plan in November.  The rail will run from Grove Boulevard to Highland Mall.

Austin Second Best City for Working Women

Austin is an ideal city for working women.Personal finance website Nerdwallet recently conducted a study of 522 cities to assess which offered the best environment for working women. Three factors played into the evaluation, which include the average salary for women, income equality and population growth to gauge future job stability and growth. In the end, Austin took second place on the list of Best Cities for Working Women.
