Austin, Texas ranked the 4th best large city in the country for working women, according to a new report from personal finance service NerdWallet.com.
The study included over 366 metro areas across the nation. Each city was ranked on four separate criteria, including highest pay, smallest gender gap in salaries, prevalence of women in the highest-paying industries, and also population growth during a two year span from 2010 to 2012.

According to the Texas Workforce Commission, the unemployment rate in Austin took a slight dip for April 2013. Previously the jobless rate was 5.3%, and fell to 5.1% last month. In April 2012, the rate was 5.6%.
Austin ranks below the national average for joblessness at 7.1%. Texas employers have added over 33,000 jobs in April and also over 326,000 jobs from the year before. According to TWC, the Lone Star State had experienced a growth rate of 3% from 2012 to 2013.

According to a recent report from brokerage firm Redfin, Austin is at the top of the list when it comes to selling homes fast. Austin ranked 5th in the country for most amount of homes to go under contract within 24 hours of listing.
Other cities that topped the list included Dallas, Houston, Chicago and the number one spot was Phoenix. For these rankings, Redfin collected data from the multiple listing services as well as public records.
Austin's real estate market is prime for selling homes right now. A shortage of available inventory and a high demand from the growing population as well as affordable home prices have helped contribute this current market circumstance. Austin ranked the Number 1 Friendliest City for Small Businesses in a new report released by San Francisco based company Thumbtack.com and Kansas City based Kaufman Foundation. Data was collected in nationwide survey of over 8,000 business owners.
Factors that contributed to Austin's top spot include ease of starting up a business, hiring regulations, as well as training and network programs. Other categories include in the report were employment health and safety, zoning, and tax code.
Many other Texas cities made the cut for the top 10 spots, including Houston ranking No 3, San Antonio at No 5, and Dallas-Ft. Worth rounding out at the No 7 spot.

Two of Austin's largest banks predict that home prices will continue to rise over the next couple of years. Both Bank of America and JP Morgan Chase released forecasts this past Quarter that housing prices will steadily increase throughout the rest of the year, and continue on through 2015.
According to a Bloomberg report, both banks predict that U.S. home prices will increase 7-8 percent by the end of the year, and JP Morgan Chase forecasts that homes will increase in value up to 14 percent through 2015.

The team at Cain Realty Group with Keller Williams Realty volunteered at the Central Texas Children's Home in Buda during Keller Williams RED Day on May 9th. The entire team spent the day painting the administrative building, as well as a barn and horse stables for the children's home.

According to The Business Journals, Austin is the #1 top city for young adults in the US. The Business Journals ranked 102 metro areas across the country with populations over 500,000, and found Austin to be a land of golden opportunities for young adults in the 20 to early 30's age range looking to establish themselves and their careers in this post-recessionary era.
