Outsmart Your Thermostat For Each Season

With the ever-changing Texas seasons, it is important to fluctuate our thermostats accordingly to stay on top of our electric bill. According to a study done by the Lawrence Berkeley National Lab, nearly 90% of Americans say that they have never programmed their thermostat, simply because they don't know how.

Programming your thermostat is actually very simple and can save Americans at least 10% a year on heating and cooling costs. You can achieve that 10% by turning your thermostat back by 7-10 degrees F from its normal setting for 8 hours a day, according to the U.S Department of Energy.

The first step is to pick the right thermostat tailored to your needs. There are four types of programmable thermostats that each include a distinctive scheduling style.

  • 7-day programming. Best for individuals or families with erratic schedules, since this is the most flexible option. It lets you program a different heating/cooling schedule for each day of the week. ...

Turn Your Doors Into True Show-Stoppers

Want a unique way to spruce up your interior decoration? Having some trouble thinking out of the box when it comes to decorating your space? Try thinking inside the box... or a doorframe perhaps! When is the last time you actually noticed your interior doors?

Here are seven ideas courtesy of House Logic.

2. Faux Stained Glass: Glass doors are a great addition, and stained glass doors are even better! Want...

Austin Awarded #1 Best Place to Live

The U.S. News and World Report have named Austin the #1 Best Place to Live in the United States for the second year in a row. While this doesn't come as any shock, we are extremely excited to share the news.

The Texas Capital took the top spot in the U.S News and World Report magazine's 2018 edition of its Best Places to Live in the U.S. list, which ranks major metro areas on a number of factors. These six factors included the following: unemployment, annual household income, cost of living, education, healthcare, and migration.

Austin beat out 124 of the United States largest metropolitan areas after being assigned a score in each of five different categories: desirability, value, job market, quality of life, and net migration.
