Family Friendly Activities for October

The holiday season is upon us and we've got you covered with family friendly activites the whole crew will enjoy. Be sure to check back each month to learn more about what is going on in your community! Grab those kiddos and explore these fun events!

Boo at the Zoo

Every Friday and Saturday in October
Lions and tigers and bears, oh my! Get ready for a howling good time at the annual Boo at the Zoo where kids can show off their Halloween costumes while strolling through the Austin Zoo during evening hours. The Zoo will be illuminated and decorated for Halloween, and you can ride the haunted train and explore a haunted house, too. Tickets are $17.50 per person and include a train pass and unlimited visits inside the Haunted House.

South Texas Maize Fall Fun

Saturdays October through November -  South Texas Maize - 10AM
Adventure through a 7 acre-maze, Hayrides, Paw Paw’s Pig Races, Hay Bale Jump, Twin Cow Train and The Wacky Wizzer! You are sure to FALL for these cute farm animals! This Texas-style fun in the country is $15 for admission.

Chalk Walk

October 7th - 5PM - Centennial Plaza
Enjoy chalk artists creating artwork on the streets of the festival groups, musicians, vocal groups, theatrical performances, food and drinks, and children’s performances by local organizations and schools. Not only is it great fun, but Chalk Walk and Festival also has an economic impact of over $380,000 on our community!

Nurture My Child Family Fair

October 15th -  Norris Conference Center
You're invited to a fun, FREE event to explore local products and services for parents and children in the Austin area! Admission and parking are free, and there will be giveaways, vendor booths, parent talks, activities, and prizes. We hope to see you there!

Barktober Fest

October 28th - 8 AM - Brushy Creek Lake Park
Help the Central Texas SPCA save homeless pets in our community by participating in the 15th Annual Barktoberfest! The event will kick off with a 5K run at 8 AM. At 10 AM, then stroll through the park on the annual pledge dog walk with one-mile and half-mile options. The top fundraiser in the dog walk will win a great prize package from local sponsors. Food, a variety of vendors, fun games and activities for all ages will also be available!

The Pumpkin Express

October 29th - Cedar Park Train Station
The Pumpkin Express This train ride takes you from the Cedar Park station to the town of Bertram, Texas where you can hop off the train to pick out a pumpkin at the Depot Pumpkin Patch. Kids of all ages will enjoy a chat with Farmer Brown, take a tour of the historic 1912 train depot, and sip apple cider before heading back to Cedar Park. This will surely be an activity the whole family will enjoy!
