Austin real estate among the most livable in the countryLiving in the Live Music Capital of the World comes pretty easily to Austinites. But how does Austin real estate fare in a comparison to the other great metropolitan areas of the country in terms of livability? A non-biased analysis done by Vocativ, a data-oriented news website, ranks Austin the fifth-most livable city in America for people 35 and under. Austin area real estate is strengthening as the population continues to increase. Data released by the U.S. Census Bureau shows that Austin’s population boom since 2000 has earned it the title of third fastest-growing big city in the nation. The increase is a 27.4% rise in the population count that was recorded in 2000. Austin’s population is up to 836,800, which is up from the 656,562 count that was completed at the turn of the 21st century.

The divide is illustrated in a recent Forbes report that lists out the U.S. cities that are experiencing the highest growth-rate of families. According to the report, Austin has had the second-highest increase in families since 2000. There were 86,200 more children in 2013 than in 2000, which reflects a growth rate of an astounding 49.3%. That’s roughly 100 times the national growth rate of 0.5% for the demographic.
