Austin will be One of the Fastest Growing Metros Through 2020

USCM report on U.S. Metro EconomiesIn an analysis of large U.S. metro areas, Austin was named aside two other metro areas as being the three fastest growing metros through 2020. Conducted by the U.S. Conference of Mayors, the analysis findings were presented at the annual USCM meeting. Included in the report were impressive statistics on the Austin economy which allude to future real estate growth for the metro. 

Specifically, the findings show that “Among the 100 largest metro areas, Austin saw the largest real GMP increase of 4.6%.” For gross metropolitan product (GMP), Austin surpassed the $100 billion mark for the first time in 2013. Generally, the report showed that “Longer term, through 2020, U.S. metros will continue to be the crux of economic growth, supplying 89% of the employment and real income growth, 92% of real GDP growth, and 94% of population growth.”
