Austin Ranked #9 in 2023’s Best Cities for Vegans & Vegetarians in America

WalletHub said “Americans may find working some vegetarian or vegan meals into their diet to be an attractive option.  Certain U.S. cities offer plentiful, inexpensive options for budget-conscious herbivores, while others lag behind.”

Austin ranked #9 in the Most Vegetarian and Vegan-Friendly Cities in the U.S. with a total score of 53.78, affordability score of 9, diversity, accessibility, and quality score of 14, and vegetarian lifestyle score of 41. 

WalletHub determined the best cities for vegans and vegetarians by comparing the 100 most populated cities and weighted average across three key dimensions: Affordability, Diversity - Accessibility / Quality, and Vegetarian Lifestyle.  They examined each city based on such metrics as the cost of groceries for vegetarians, the share of restaurants serving meatless options, and salad shops per capita.
