Austin One of the Most LGBT-Friendly Cities in the U.S.

In honor of Pride Month, NerdWallet crunched the numbers to find the most LGBT-friendly cities in the U.S. Metrics used to determine the list included the presence of a gay community (of course), LGBT-friendly laws and opportunities and LGBT safety and tolerance. Austin came in 7th overall, aided by the existence of The Austin Gay & Lesbian Chamber of Commerce.

Having an organization that focuses on the economic growth and success of local LGBT businesses and organizations allows for the LGBT community to grow and thrive professionally as well as personally. Additionally, according the report about the list in NerdWallet, the city boasts the lowest rate of sexual orientation-related hate crimes of all top ten cities.
