Austin Area Real Estate Booming in 3rd Fastest-Growing City in America
Data released by the U.S. Census Bureau shows that Austin’s population boom since 2000 has earned it the title of third fastest-growing big city in the nation. The increase is a 27.4% rise in the population count that was recorded in 2000. Austin’s population is up to 836,800, which is up from the 656,562 count that was completed at the turn of the 21st century.
Contributing greatly to the population boom are the quickly-expanding Austin area suburbs, where growth was recorded between 39 percent in San Marcos to over 80 percent in Schertz. Pflugerville, one of Austin’s suburbs to the north, grew a staggering 206.8 percent between 2000 and 2013, according the an article in the Austin Business Journal.
Austin’s population growth won’t be slowing down anytime soon, as the economic factors that help lure newcomers to the city are continuing to strengthen, too. Strong job growth, a high median income and overall affordability continue to make Austin an ideal place for many to move. With it’s diverse selection of homes for sale - ranging from metropolitan to the rural - being sought by newcomers far and wide, Austin real estate is primed for years of healthy growth.
